Tischner visits Bauhaus-University: Future projects in focus!
On Friday, June 6, 2025, Thuringia's Minister of Education, Science and Culture, Christian Tischner, will visit the Bauhaus University Weimar. This tour is used to find out about central research projects, innovative teaching concepts and strategic developments at the university, such as Uni-wei-weiMar.de
Tischner will be accompanied by members of the Presidium and other representatives of the university. Insights are planned into several special places from the university, including the Gropius room and the digital reconstruction in the Digital Bauhaus Lab. Another focus of the tour will be the "Imaginamics" excellence cluster, which was recently funded as part of the federal and state excellence strategy.
excellence strategy and their importance
The excellence strategy, which was launched by the federal and state governments in 2016, aims to strengthen the German science location in international competition and to increase the visibility of top scientific performance. This initiative consists of two funding lines: Cluster of Excellence and Excellence Universities. The Cluster of Excellence promotes internationally competitive research fields by enabling the cooperation between scientists and the training of young people. As part of the excellence strategy, a total of 539 million euros are available annually for 70 clusters of excellence, which are funded from 2026, such as bmbf.de
The Bauhaus University Weimar will also present innovative learning concepts in its hybrid learning laboratory, in which concepts for sustainable mobility planning and resource-saving building are treated. The visit is rounded off with a presentation in Design Lab, which addresses experimental access in creative robotics and current questions from the design theory. The visit is completed by an exchange in the M18, the house of the students, which gives an insight into the teaching courses at the Bauhaus University.
The future of top research
The excellence strategy has established itself as a central component for promoting top research since its introduction. The creation of network structures and promoting interdisciplinary approaches not only promote the exchange of knowledge, but also strengthen the international competitiveness of German research institutions. From 2026, further changes and funding opportunities are planned to increase the number of supported projects and thus the innovative strength of the universities.
