A 76-year-old driver caused a spectacular accident in Apolda on Wednesday afternoon. He parked his vehicle on the edge of Karl-August-Straße and opened the driver's door without paying attention to traffic. At that moment a cyclist came from behind and was able to avoid the door, but fell and seriously injured.

The woman contracted an arm injury and a broken finger. She was immediately taken to a hospital to be treated. The incident once again shows how important it is to keep an eye on the traffic conditions when parking.
