Worpswede celebrates 150 years of the shooting club: a festival of tradition!

The Worpswede shooting club is celebrating a remarkable anniversary this year: The community, which was founded in 1875 by Carl Otto Ferdinand Stolte in 1875, has been celebrating. Over time, the association has developed into one of the largest and most important associations in Worpswede and is an integral part of the cultural life of the community that has accompanied generations. Oliver Twisterling is the 1st chairman of the association and, together with the members, contributed a lot to maintain tradition.

A particularly important part of the club's history is the name of the rifle kings in the name of the rifle kings in the entrance area of the shooting range. This honor shows the pride and tradition that are cultivated here. The current rifle king Uwe Knop took place as part of last year's royal shooting, in which 25 people reported to participate.

cultural influences and artistic heritage

The beginnings of the shooting club also had a significant impact on the development of the village of Worpswede. The daughter of Stolte, Sophie Emilie "Mimi", invited the art student Fritz Mackensen to Worpswede, which inspired numerous artists who joined the shooting festival and contributed significantly to the culture of the region. A special artistic reflection of this tradition can be found in the painting "Schützenfest with Carousel II" by Paula Modersohn-Becker from 1904.

With the purchase of a silver royal chain in 1886, the association underlines its traditional history for the award of the rifle king. The many members, including Kurt Schmidt, who has been part of the club for 53 years and held the position of rifle king in 1989, show that the association embodies real cohesion and durability.
