Two -year -old endangered: the police stop driving on wooden board in the trailer!

In a worrying incident, a three -year -old child was discovered on Friday in Pfaffenhausen (Unterallgäu district) who was unsecured on an open trailer. The trailer, on which a 78-year-old man had also taken a seat, was loaded with several garden tools and was pulled by a car. The police stopped the team and thus prevented the journey to ensure the security of the occupants. The 72-year-old driver, the wife of the 78-year-old, is now being finished with a fine and her unreasonableness led the driver's license authority to be informed. This raises fundamental questions about the safety of children in road traffic, especially in view of the regulations in Germany.

In Germany, according to the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO), children up to 12 years or a height of 1.50 m are obliged to be secured in a suitable child seat. This regulation was introduced in 1993 and is intended to increase the safety of children in the car. The child seats must correspond to the test standards and reg. 44 or 129, whereby the division into weight classes and sizes plays a crucial role. Violations of these regulations can be punished with fines of at least 30 euros to 70 euros and points in Flensburg. It is particularly alarming that only 35 percent of the children are correctly secured in the children's retention system, which increases the need to clarify correct behavior and safety in road traffic.

According to the statements of the Federal Street system (BAST), only 87 percent of all children have to travel in Germany in a safe place in Germany, and children up to five years are even 93 percent. Nevertheless, the question remains how effectively these regulations are implemented in practice. The current legal provisions state that approved child seats must be used, which are marked with the appropriate test mark. Child seats in classes 0+ in particular have to be mounted backwards, while classes I and II can be used both forward and backwards. These regulations were introduced to protect children from serious injuries in traffic accidents.

  • child seats should ideally be installed in the back seat.
  • A child seat installed in the passenger seat must be equipped with a deactivated airbag.
  • The test marks (E and R) are important references to the safety of child seats.

Despite these clear guidelines, reality shows a gap in compliance. Many parents may not be aware of the risks or ignore them out of carelessness. The bast provides various information materials to clarify the public about the correct use of child seats. Parents can contact the bast and receive information in printed form or as a download. These measures are crucial to avoid accidents and protect children's life.

The incident in Pfaffenhausen shows that educational work and the enforcement of traffic regulations are indispensable in order to ensure the safety of the youngest road users. Security in road traffic begins with the right equipment - and this applies in particular to the smallest passengers.
