A crack addiction help center is about to be created in the train station district of Frankfurt am Main. On July 3rd, the city council passed the decision with a majority of 54 votes to 34. This center will be located at Niddastrasse 76, between Platz der Republik and the main train station, and is intended to provide a safe place for drug users. The head of the social affairs department, Elke Voitl, describes the center as unique in Germany and groundbreaking in getting crack addicts off the streets and giving them access to advice and medical care. The total costs for the acquisition and renovation of the building amount to around 11.7 million euros, and the opening is targeted for the third quarter of 2026.

This is also why the Left plans to push forward left-wing projects until the election on March 15, 2026. Some critics accuse the left of trying to curry favor with the city government, which they vehemently reject.
