Frankfurt (Oder) celebrates 20 years of Bunter Hering with music and free beer!
The HanseStadtFest “Bunter Hering” begins today in Frankfurt (Oder) with a colorful program and is celebrating its 20th anniversary! It starts at 6 p.m. with a traditional tapping of the barrel. For this small ceremony there is free beer from the Frankfurter Brauhaus, which lightens up the celebrations. Instead of the usual herring rolls, a sweet surprise awaits the first guests - cake for the fastest. After the official start, the event will continue until Sunday at 6 p.m. with many highlights around the town hall. This promises to be a weekend full of fun and enjoyment.
The plan is to feature over 100 showmen, exciting rides, multiple stages and an abundance of live music. The first sounds of Julia Meladin and Feel will be heard on Friday, followed by Juli on Saturday evening and the grand finale with Keimzeit on Sunday. And best of all: entry is free! Anyone who wants to use public transport can take the bus and tram for free throughout the weekend, which should attract additional visitors.
A celebration of diversity
The HanseStadtFest attracts thousands of visitors every year and has a long tradition. It goes back to a legend from 1503, when a ship loaded with herrings capsized on the Oder and the citizens salvaged the cargo and celebrated. The “colorful herring” symbolizes the cohesion and joy of life of the region. Over the last two decades, the festival has evolved and now offers a successful mix of tradition and modernity.
A wide range of music genres are offered on four stages, including pop, rock, electro and folk, with performances by both international and regional artists. In addition to the musical highlights, there are also sporting events such as dragon boat races and beach volleyball tournaments. There are carousels and bouncy castles available for younger visitors, while adults can feast on regional and international specialties at the stands.
Special arrival options
In order to make the festival accessible to everyone, a cross-border bus route 983 was set up, connecting Frankfurt (Oder) with the Polish city of Słubice. The stops are conveniently located and operating hours are extended until midnight on Friday and Saturday. VBB ticket holders can use the line at no additional cost, which benefits visitors. The inner-city transport also offers a special timetable during the festive season so that the festival can be reached easily.
For all active participants there is also the goal wall challenge at “pure fm ISLAND”, supervised by players from FC UNION Frankfurt (Oder). Great prizes can be won here, such as shopping vouchers from EDEKA Habermann in the HEP or free tickets for the Helene Beach Festival. Participation in the challenge is possible every day from Friday evening to Sunday, while stocks last.
The HanseStadtFest “Bunter Hering” offers something for everyone – from culinary delights to music to exciting competitions. A welcome festival that celebrates German-Polish friendship and the coming together of people. Take advantage of the opportunity and be there!
