Frankfurt trains for crisis: Mega exercise ÜB’s! 2025 starts!

In Frankfurt am Main, exciting days are imminent! From June 24th to July 2, 2025, the greatest exercise of its kind called "ÜB’s! 2025" takes place. This is organized by the Frankfurt fire department as well as urban offices, authorities and institutions of the critical infrastructure, supported by medical partners. The aim of the event is to strengthen municipal crisis management and operational structures in population protection in order to be prepared for the increasing challenges through hybrid threats, such as Rheinmainverlag.de reported.

The exercise consists of several phases that deal intensively on the crisis management capability of those involved. Initially, a staff framework for urban offices will take place from June 24th to 26th. On June 27, a large -scale real exercise with emergency services and extras will take place. In the last phase, from June 30th to July 2, the fire brigade's leadership is practiced to react to complex dangers, including hybrid threats. On the last day, the participants experience a crisis management exercise in which both rods can work in parallel. Hesse's Interior Minister Prof. Dr. Roman Poseck will also be present.

focus on hybrid threats

hybrid threats have become more and more present in recent years. According to bbk.bund.de, countries such as Russia, China, North Korea and Iran have increased their activities considerably. These threats range from cyber attacks to disinformation to sabotagen and thus represent a serious risk of public security.

What exactly does that mean for us? The increasing instability requires sensitization of the population to self -provision. Clearly defined processes and trained structures in crisis management are indispensable to be there in an emergency.

strategic approaches in the EU

swp-berlin.org , the Czech EU Council Presidency has put this aspect in focus of its foreign and security policy. Three priorities of the EU include the creation of a so -called hybrid toolbox as well as measures against disinformation and foreign interference.

In recent years, NATO has increasingly invested in strategies for early detection and strategic communication, while the EU has launched a task force for strategic communication. These measures are the key to strengthening the resilience against hybrid threats and ensuring the security of citizens.

With the exercise "ÜB’S! 2025" Frankfurt am Main will not only optimize his own ability to act, but will also make an important contribution to strengthening entire population protection. The coming days promise exciting insights and valuable experiences to navigate more safely through restless times.
