Fashion revolution in Halle: Students present queer-feminist collections!
The **Bundeskunstschule Halle** invites you to an extraordinary event: On Friday, **11. July 2025**, at **8 p.m.** the fashion department's highly acclaimed showcase will take place. The students of the Burg Giebichenstein Art University proudly show their project and final work. And the best thing about it: The event will also be broadcast live outside, free of charge, so that fashion enthusiasts can experience the production on site.
Before that happens, those interested can look forward to the mottos of the final theses. The over **500** expected visitors will have the opportunity to discover the creative perspectives of **16** graduates of the bachelor's and master's degree in fashion design. Tickets can be purchased in advance for **20 euros** at the box office, from **5 p.m.** in the Bausparkasse Halle and from **6:30 p.m.** at the venue.
A look behind the scenes of fashion
The fashion show will be musically accompanied by a **54-piece orchestra from the Staatskapelle Halle**, which will, among other things, perform works by **Philip Glass** such as the **13. Symphony** and “Symphony No. 3” plays. This impressive combination of fashion and music promises a very special experience.
The topics of the theses are diverse and permeated by **queer feminist and post-colonial theory**. For example, design projects such as “from ruffles to runners: breaking harmonies” will delve into transhistorical design methods and “Under Pressure – Prints in a Postcolonial Context” will critically address cultural appropriation. Another highlight is the project “Dresscode: DRAMA / SPARKLE & SHINE”, which examines fashion and gender.
An exciting program for everyone
One of the students, **Franziska Bauer**, is involved in her work “stage me!” with self-presentation in the digital world. **Sarah Breitner** is also prominently featured with her reflections on environmental destruction in “Folded”. The students' different approaches offer exciting insights into today's moving topics and illustrate how important a critical dialogue is in the fashion world.
In addition to the projects mentioned, the works “Sweet Dreams” by **Jeongyun Hyun** and “Is there life before death?” presented by **Lucia Antonia Kempe**, which deals with happiness and political responsibility. These creative discussions impressively show how profoundly the students interpret the world of fashion.
Overall, the fashion department's showcase brings a broader topic of **gender and queer theory** into the fashion world and is therefore intended to provide a forum for discussion and reflection. This makes the event an absolute must not only for fashion fans, but also for those interested in culture. Remember to secure your tickets in time as places are limited!
