Nuremberg residents can vote for the new Christ child online from Friday!

From Friday, July 11th, the citizens of Nuremberg can design the new Christmas sky: They can vote online for their Christ child! The city of Nuremberg announced that a total of twelve applicants will present themselves on the Christmas market website from 8 p.m. Short videos of the talented candidates now make the decision even easier. Online voting runs until July 20th, while postal votes will be accepted until July 18th. This means that everyone who wants to support the Nuremberg Christ Child can also cast their vote in the traditional way.

The search for the new Christ child started earlier than usual this year. The election usually takes place in September, but in order to ease the preparation stress before the opening of the Christmas market, the city has brought this date forward to July. As Süddeutsche reports, girls and young women aged 16 to 19 who live in Nuremberg can apply. The selection criteria are clear: a minimum height of 1.60 meters, a head for heights and weather resistance are required.

From the application to the Christmas market

The jury, which made a selection from 39 applications, selects the six with the most votes from the twelve candidates. They can then appear before the jury to choose the new Nuremberg Christ Child for the years 2025/26. The Christ Child has been searched for every two years since 1969 and opens the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt on November 28th. The market, which is one of the oldest in Germany, will again attract many people to the city in 2025; Last year there were around two million visitors, as Tixio reports.

The Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt is not only known for its festive atmosphere, but also as an ideal destination for Christmas shopping. The city offers a relaxing environment that allows visitors to escape from everyday life and discover a variety of unique gifts, trendy home accessories and designer labels. According to Christkindlesmarkt, there is something for every taste in the pedestrian zone, which is one of the largest in Europe - regardless of whether you are looking for a fashion item or a real bargain. The historic old town also offers exclusive boutiques and modern specialist shops, which combine shopping with a beautiful walk through the city.

So stay tuned and take part when it comes to electing the next Nuremberg Christ Child! Your vote counts - perhaps a new face with festive splendor will soon open the doors of the Christmas market and bring magic to the Advent season!
