The future begins here: International Congress Where Science meets fiction in Stuttgart!

On Wednesday, June 4, and Thursday, June 5, 2025, the international future congress "Where Science meets fiction" takes place at the University of Stuttgart. The event will be held both in the Stuttgart City Library and on the city center campus of the university. The target group are people from science, research, industry, politics and interested media representatives and the general public. Creative minds from the science fiction scene are invited to the event to discuss the design of future issues in the middle of crises and challenges.

The congress begins on June 4 at 7 p.m. with an opening evening in the Stuttgart City Library. Here Professor Oliver Bendel from the North Switzerland University of Applied Sciences will give a lecture, followed by a discussion with Eva Braslavsky about the "Vision of the Universal Robot" in relation to humans 2.0. On June 5, the core program starts at 10 a.m. in the deep cock rooms 17.01 and February 17th. From 3 p.m., the participants can expect an exciting open-air program that also includes a science slam, in which young scientists present their work and choose the audience the best slam.

Another highlight of the congress is the use of extended reality headset for XR experience with a stranded UFO that will be shown in the courtyard of Keplerstrasse 17. In addition, on June 5, a workshop entitled "Die Science (from) of the Future" will take place in the Café Faust. A final panel at 5:30 p.m. will illuminate the future between science, craft and art. Participants also have the opportunity to get an insight into the Stuttgart start-up scene where innovative companies such as "Perosol" and "Cyclize" are represented.

The costs for the events are variable: While the open-air program and the workshop are free of charge, the core program and participation in Gutbrod tickets are offered at prices of 60 and 30 euros. Students and members of the University of Stuttgart can also look forward to a limited contingent of free tickets.
