Peaceful folk festival in Kaiserslautern: Police with a positive balance!
On Monday evening the largest folk festival in the West Palatinate, the Maikerwe, ended with a spectacular fireworks display. The police take a positive balance and report a peaceful festival, similar to previous years. Department head Steffen Kroll reported a total of 14 crimes, including six assault, a pickpocket and an argument between showmen, which even led to a license withdrawal. Investigations have been initiated in all cases.
For the first time, the Maikerwe Mobile passenger drivers were used to increase the safety of visitors. Mayor Manfred Schulz said that this measure demonstrates responsible event planning and send a positive signal in terms of security. Despite these precautions, he emphasized that absolute security cannot be guaranteed, but everything possible is made to protect citizens and guests.
