Children in view: Police control traffic around schools and daycare centers!
Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, Deutschland - On June 3, the police of the Rheinisch-Bergische Kreis carried out the traffic safety campaign "Safe.mobil.leben", which was under the motto "Children in view" this year. The aim was to increase the safety of children on road traffic. Officials controlled around 160 vehicles around schools and kindergartens and discovered a frightening number of violations: In seven cases, the right backup for children was missing, 27 drivers crossed the speed limit, and six were caught by their mobile phone when distracted.
In addition, traffic providers were active at schools to teach children in bicycle training the safe behavior in road traffic. Already in kindergarten, the little ones learn how to get to school safely. The campaign shows that increased mindfulness and preventive measures are urgently needed to protect children from the dangers of road traffic.
