On Sunday, May 19, 2024, around 380 people mobilized for an elevator from the market square to Hambacher Castle, after a rally. The protest attracted attention when there was a sitting block in Hambacher Strasse. Police officers then initiated criminal proceedings against around 20 participants for coercion and granted them refer to space to prevent further disorders.

The police ensured that the short -term traffic impairments remained limited to a minimum during the elevator, so that the course of the event was largely ordered.
