Police Recklinghausen intensified protection for children and young people
Bottrop, Deutschland - The Recklinghausen police are intensifying their cooperation with the youth welfare offices to improve the protection of children and young people. A new cooperation agreement was signed on May 26, 2025, which aims to ensure the quick exchange of information if there are information on child hazards. Police President Friederike Zurhausen emphasized the need to deal with young people particularly carefully, since they are often in need of protection and in precarious situations.
Due to the increased networking and regular meetings with the youth welfare offices, processes are to be optimized in order to be able to react to potential dangers at an early stage. Since 2018, the Preventive Conventive concept "Get curve", the Recklinghausen police have accompanied children who are considered "intensive offenders" and is working on preventing criminal developments. The fight against sexual abuse of children remains one of the most urgent tasks of the police, with the clerk emphasized how important their work is to help suffering children.
