On Tuesday morning, May 27, 2025, an accident occurred on the Ostwestfalendamm in Bielefeld, in which two drivers were slightly injured. According to initial information, a 50-year-old driver from the Czech Republic with its 3.5-ton Mercedes Sprinter overlooked the end of the traffic jar at Jöllenbecker Straße. At 8:15 a.m. he collided head-on with a waiting Skoda Fabia of a 29-year-old Bielefelder, who was pushed onto a standing Opel minibus by the impact.

An emergency doctor landed at the scene of the accident with the rescue helicopter, as witnesses reported a trapped driver. Fortunately, the injuries to the participants involved remained, but the incident caused considerable traffic disruptions on the Ostwestfalendamm. The police are now investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
