On Thursday morning, a serious traffic accident in Nordhausen happened, in which a 45-year-old SUV driver came off the road and collided with a light pylon. The incident occurred at the Taschenberg and Hohekreuzstraße intersection, where the vehicle accidentally ancut in front of a pedestrian crossing. Both the driver and his passenger suffered minor injuries and were brought to the South Harz Clinic.

The SUV is no longer ready to drive after the impact and had to be towed. The light mast bent through the collision and was removed by the city lighting. The vehicle also damaged the windows of adjacent houses. The total damage is estimated at at least 40,000 euros. During the accident recording, the police found that the driver was apparently not suitable for driving - a final assessment will be made after evaluating his blood samples.
