Safe way to school: Police starts campaign for children in road traffic!

On June 3, 2025, the important traffic safety campaign "Safe.mobil.leben" starts, which is particularly about the safety of children in road traffic this year. Children are a particularly vulnerable group, and the risk of accidents can be significantly reduced due to more mindfulness and adapted driving behavior. The Rhein-Sieg-Kreis police will concentrate on distractions, turning accidents and school pathway.

A distraction of just one second can have fatal consequences - at 50 km/h you “blindly drive” up to 14 meters. In 2024, over 20 % serious traffic accidents in the Rhein-Sieg district were due to errors when turning. In order to fight these dangers, the officers specialize in controls. In addition, children get to know the dangers in road traffic in the “Dead Winkel” project and learn how big this blind area around trucks is - a vital knowledge. The initiative also wants to counteract the trend of the so -called "parent taxis", since parents often drive their children to school out of supposed protection, which carries additional risks.
