Increasing number of accidents in Middle Hesse: Security for young drivers in focus

Kaufmännische Schulen des Lahn-Dill-Kreises, Deutschland - In 2024, the police headquarters Central Hesse recorded an increase in traffic accidents by 381 to a total of 22,941. This number means an increase of less than two percent compared to the previous year. Over 85 percent of the injuries were slightly injured, while the accident deaths were fortunately declining. The increase in e-scooter accidents that almost doubled is worrying.

As part of the “Crash Course” prevention program, pupils were informed about the dangers in road traffic. This initiative, which has also been offered by the Hessian police since 2025, aims to sensitize young drivers in particular to the risks of alcohol, drugs and distraction. Police President Torsten Krückemeier emphasized the urgency to educate young people about the real consequences of rash behavior.
