In October, the labor market in Halle (Saale) and the Saale district showed some interesting developments. The current figures provide information about the employment situation and the challenges that many are facing.
In Halle (Saale) 11,955 women and men are unemployed. Compared to September, this is a decrease of 364 people, which is positive. Nevertheless, the balance is mixed compared to the previous year, as 285 more people are affected by unemployment, which corresponds to an increase of 2.4%. The unemployment rate in Halle itself falls to 9.6% of the civilian workforce. However, Simone Meißner, head of the Saxony-Anhalt South employment agency, points out the economic challenges, especially for young people. She emphasizes the need for targeted labor market policy measures to offer young people a perspective.
Situation in the Saale district
In the Saale district, however, things don't look quite so rosy. There are 6,581 women and men unemployed here this month, which means an increase of 126 people compared to the previous month. In an annual comparison there are 289 more, which corresponds to an increase of 4.6%. The unemployment rate in the Saale district therefore rises to 6.8%. In comparison, the rate in Mansfeld-Südharz at 9.8% and in Burgenlandkreis at 7.0% is also not encouraging.
Overall, these figures mean that the labor market in the region is showing small rays of hope, but there is also a lot of need for action. Those responsible are required to develop appropriate strategies so that young people in particular are not left behind.
