Heidelberg achieved equal opportunities: professor program 2030 started!

Heidelberg, Deutschland - The Heidelberg Pedagogical University (PHHD) successfully awarded the award for the renowned Professor Interior Program 2030 on June 4, 2025, an important step to increase the proportion of professors at German universities. With a proportion of women of 47 percent, the PHHD ensures a parity line -up of its professorships, which makes it a promotional institute in terms of equality. Dr. Frauke Janz, the equal opportunities officer of the university, and Dr. Wolfgang Schultz, equality officer, commented in an interview about the current challenges and future plans in the field of equality. Heidelberg University of Education reports that ...

A central concern of the PHHD is the sustainable promotion of equality as a cross -sectional task. The measures already implemented include taking into account educational times in the assessment of academic services and mentoring programs for doctoral students who are supported by external professors. Despite the existing success, however, the university shows that the distribution of women in academic positions still has to be improved. Currently only 63 percent of doctoral students are women and the proportion of women among professors is almost 50 percent.

strategies for improving equality

In order to further promote the goal of equality, PHHD plans specific funding, especially in underrepresented areas such as the natural sciences and technology. Among other things, qualification centers are planned to support women in promotion and bridging points for scientists. An appellate manager should also actively recruit professors. The encouragement of students to promotion is a top priority for the university.

The professor program was launched in 2008 and has since promoted over 900 professorships. It aims to increase the proportion of women in top scientific positions and to counteract the so -called "leaky pipeline", which describes how women lose presence in the course of their academic careers. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research informs that ...

Current challenges and goals

Despite the positive development, there are still significant hurdles in Germany that women encounter in science. The proportion of women in professorship is currently 29 percent, while the proportion of doctoral students is 46 percent and that of Habilitand women is 37 percent. The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space Travel pursues the goal of reducing this inequality and has launched initiatives to strengthen the variety of universities. A funding focus focuses on innovative measures to increase the visibility of women in science and innovation. DetailsOrtHeidelberg, DeutschlandQuellen
