Motorcycle accident on A95: Drivers ignore burning motorcycle!
On Thursday, June 9, 2025, around 7:30 p.m., a serious motorcycle accident occurred on the A95 in the direction of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. A 58-year-old motorcyclist from the Stuttgart area, who drove a KTM, accelerated to over 130 km/h and fell after a lane change due to aquaplaning. In doing so, he crashed into the middle protection plank, overturned and slipped more than 100 meters across the road. Despite these dramatic circumstances, the driver was able to set up himself independently and bring it to safety behind the protective plank.
Weather conditions contributed to the accident: there was a slight drizzle, and the road was wet and slippery. Immediately after the accident, the motorcycle ignited. Two 24-year-old women who came on hand, provided first aid, secured the scene of the accident and called the emergency call. The motorcyclist only suffered bruises on the forearm. The Munich fire brigade was on site with 24 emergency services and quickly brought the vehicle fire under control.
traffic disruptions and behavior of the drivers
The A95 was closed for about an hour to carry out extinguishing and recovery work. This led to considerable traffic disruptions during the evening traffic. The behavior of many other road users who drove past the accident site without stopping or forming a rescue alley was frightening. The police warned of the dangers that bring such behavior and emphasized the importance of forming a rescue alley in the event of accidents
The total damage is according to initial estimates at around 26,000 euros. In addition, it is checked whether a renovation of the road surface is required. This also raises questions about the existing traffic rules, especially with regard to the winding through motorcyclists in traffic jams. Motorcyclists often try to meander between standing cars, but this is forbidden in traffic jam, such as the adac emphasized
motora accidents and safety aspects
motorcyclists have a significantly higher risk of accident than drivers. According to the ADAC , motorcyclists are involved in accidents four times more often, and the disposable rate is even seven times as high as those of drivers. Over 500 fatal and almost 10,000 seriously injured motorcyclists are registered in Germany every year.
An analysis shows that motorcyclists are involved in almost every fourth serious traffic accident outside of towns. Young drivers between the ages of 15 and 24 are particularly at risk. Fixed causes of accidents are driving errors, excessive speed and collisions for overtaking processes. It is therefore recommended to carry out safety checks for motorcycles, wear protective clothing and regularly complete driving safety training.
