Tunisian women conquer care in Germany - new opportunities in the Allgäu!

At this critical moment she was contacted by Kachem Khechana, a German-Tunesian, who offered support.

support and integration

KHEhana traveled to the retirement home himself to analyze the situation of women and campaigned for new training positions and adequate living conditions. Cäcilia Kolb, the home manager of the Sonnenhalde, finally offered women training positions. Within two months, each of the four women was given the opportunity to get into nursing training in the Sonnenhalde. The women have settled in well into their new surroundings and are now fluent German. They show a high level of motivation and perform well in training. In order to bridge cultural differences, Khechana also organized a meeting afternoon. The women now feel comfortable in the Allgäu and have expressed the desire to stay there. Abdelmale even bears the plan to work as a nursing director after her training.

The training in Tunisia

The training as a nurse in Tunisia is known as the bachelor's degree in nursing sciences. According to differently relocation , the theoretical part of the training is more extensive than in Germany. Tunisian nurses are well prepared for generalistic care training, which has been in place in Germany since 2020. However, the recognition of Tunesi degrees in Germany is often a challenge, since practical training content does not always meet the level of German training.

In addition, there are both private and public universities in Tunisia that offer nursing sciences. Until 2008 it was only possible via a three -year degree to become a nurse. The waiting lists for state clinics are also long, often up to four years. This means that many graduates have to work in private hospitals where the payment is significantly lower.

strengthening the quality of education

One of the projects to improve the training is the Tuniscare project, which aims to develop and implement training and further education modules for vocational training as a nurse in Tunisia. According to imove this project also includes the recognition of the equivalence of the Tunisian vocational qualification in Germany. Cooperation with German educational institutions, such as the Leipzig Society for Education and Work mbH, promote the integration and training of Tunisians in Germany.

KHEhana has already helped over 25 young people from the Arab world to gain a foothold this year. Another step to improve the quality of education is also taken, and the future on the job market looks promising for the four women and many of their compatriots.
