Tractor drama in Partenstein: 16 tons of gravel block street!

In Lower Franconia there was a spectacular danger good accident, in which a tractor with a fully loaded trailer tipped over and lost a total of 16 tons of gravel on the street. The incident occurred in the B276 in Partenstein (Main-Spessart district), where the trailer overturned in a railway underpass. The gravel stones were distributed across the entire road, the sidewalk and an adjacent embankment.

According to the first findings, the driver had driven too quickly around a curve, which led to the accident. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the property damage is estimated at around 19,000 euros. The federal road had to be completely closed for several hours to recover the trailer and check the route conditions, as

inadequate load securing as a possible cause

According to further information on how charge security problems should be handled, there are clear legal regulations on how to secure the load on transport vehicles. The DGUV regulation 70 demands that the load is stowed in such a way that there is no endangerment of people under normal traffic conditions. In addition, the road traffic regulations (StVO) require that loads are also secured for sudden braking or evasive maneuvers in order to prevent traffic. This information comes from a contribution by BGHM

In a similar incident recently, there was a tipper to tip over, in which the load was not properly secured and iron scaffolding was lost. In this case, a jerky braking led to the driver of the Steyr tractor thrown forward and a heavily bleeding laceration pulled on the head. The farmer then had to go to the hospital, while the volunteer fire brigade took over the rescue work, such as Agrarheute

These incidents make it clear how important proper load securing is. Inadequate measures can not only lead to significant damage to property, but also endanger the safety of other road users. It is essential that everyone involved, especially drivers of transport vehicles, are aware of responsibility and strictly comply with the applicable regulations.
