10 years European Handball Manager: a milestone for sport!

Köln, Deutschland - The certificate degree "European Handball Manager*in" celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2025 and has established itself as an important part of professional handball education. Offered in cooperation with the European Handball Federation (EHF), the program aims to meet the growing need for qualified handball managers. The graduates make a decisive contribution to the development and professionalization of handball, which EHF general secretary Martin Hausleitner also underlined.

As part of the ceremonial certificate ceremony, which takes place during Handball Champions League Final Fours, the further development of the program is also presented. In the future, digital tools, sustainability, data analysis and competitive sports management should be more integrated.

study content and exams

The one -year, part -time study includes content such as sports management, sports law, marketing, finance and communication. Before the participants receive their certificates, they must complete written and oral exams as well as media and communication training. Over 150 graduates from more than 25 nations have already successfully completed the program and are now working in leading positions at handball clubs, leagues and associations.

other professional training measures in handball are also important. For example, from July 1, 2025, new registrations for the official European Handball Manager will be accepted. The course is specifically designed for managers of handball clubs, leagues and organizations as well as players and trainers. It consists of five modules that contain both theoretical and practical elements.

The language of the teaching is German, with the focus on legal foundations in Europe. Interested parties must submit their applications by April 30, 2025 to be taken into account for the maximum number of participants of 20 students. Admission requirements are a university degree and at least two years of professional experience in professional handball after a commercial training or at least five years as a professional handball player.

In addition to these further training offers, VMI offers practice -oriented courses in the field of sports management. The training focuses on well -founded knowledge in sports association management for full -time employees in sports associations. These programs promote the exchange of experiences and the network structure, which is particularly valuable for the participants.

In the future, the focus will be even more on digital competence, sustainability and a solid economic basis in order to meet the challenges of modern sports management.
