Tree house hotel Book cloud: an architectural miracle in Saxony!
Am Taumhaushotel "Kriebelland" at the Kreiebstein dam in Saxony was realized: the tree house in the form of a cloud, subsidized by the former Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. This extraordinary building hovers at an altitude of eight meters between three 120-year beeches and is the result of a cooperation between the Institute for Structural Eight Building of the TU Chemnitz , 3DTex GmbH and the processing company Karsten Daedler e.k.
The tree house, also known as the "book cloud", has a maximum outer diameter of 3.90 meters and offers an internal usable area of around 6.50 square meters. The construction consists of a wooden structure surrounded by an innovative plastic membrane. This membrane consists of six double curved membrane fields, which are filled with insulation fabrics such as bloating glass, aerogel and perlite. This design aims to reduce energy losses in textile architecture and to enable sustainable use at temperatures of -20 to 40 degrees Celsius.
construction and materials
The tree house structure, which has been built since February 2021, includes several months of testing for statics, thermodynamics and acoustics of the membrane hybrid. The wall and ceiling elements are specially designed to take into account the climatic factors inside. The robust construction allows year -round use as an isolated sleeping capsule, thanks to the variable forms of construction of the insulated textile architecture that was implemented in the project.
The tree house construction is an example of the cooperation between innovative architecture and the latest technology. The six layer straps that carry the structure ensure stability and an airy appearance, while the translucent membrane lets the light flow into the interior.
The insights and the user experience
The "book cloud" houses around 1000 books that were donated by the guests. Access to this special tree house takes place via a separate spiral staircase, and the interior includes pillows and skins that create a cozy atmosphere. From the inside, guests can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding nature at the Kreinststein dam.
The development of this project is in the context of an increasing popularity of sustainable construction projects, which deal with both ecological and aesthetic questions. Similar tree house concepts such as that of Studio Precht , which follows a modular and natural approach with his tree house prototype "Bert" show how the connection between man and nature can be strengthened by innovative architecture.
Overall, the tree house hotel "Kreiebelland" not only illuminates technological progress in the field of architecture, but also the potential for sustainable and integrating use of characteristic natural areas by contemporary construction.
