Augsburg, Deutschland - FC Augsburg has committed a new coach with Sandro Wagner who will take over the helm from summer 2025. Wagner, currently assistant coach of national coach Julian Nagelsmann, receives a contract until summer 2028. He follows Jess Thorup, from whom the club separated after a critical season analysis. Thorup was criticized in the Bundesliga because of his playing style, which was not less attractive.

Augsburg, which has completed the season in twelfth place and recently suffered four defeats in a row, Wagner had previously asked several times.
