a long history

The Beuerberg monastery has an eventful story that goes back to the 12th century. After its foundation as a Augustinian choir monster, secularization and the acquisition of buildings occurred through private hands in 1803. In 1846 the Salesians took over the monastery, and until 1938 it served as a girls' school and mothers. The Archdiocese of Munich and Freising took over the facility in 2014. Beuerberg has been developed as a cultural and education center since then, and numerous exhibitions have been organized since 2016.

The restoration of important historical premises such as the baroque library and the Rococo Festsaal was a central concern of the renovation. These restoration measures contributed to making the history of the monastery visible and establishing it as a cultural contact point in the region.

The mayor of Wolfratshausen, Moritz Sappl, presented the museum director Christoph Kürzeder a basket with regional products as a sign of thanks for the efforts to renovate the monastery. The immediate response to the opening shows the great interest of the public in this historic place.
