Review and outlook: Alumni event of the WFI inspires in Ingolstadt!
May 27, 2025 is all about the alumni event of the Faculty of Economics (WFI) of the Catholic University (KU) in Ingolstadt. This annual meeting offers a platform for former students, active students and professors to exchange ideas and reflect the history of the faculty. This year the event is enriched by a varied program, which includes a discussion about the beginnings and challenges of the faculty.
Prof. Dr. Bernd Stauss and Jakob Schäuble take a look back at the founding of the faculty in 1989 when it was launched with only six professors and 80 students. Today's buildings had not yet been completed, and the administration had to be set up from scratch without an examination or study regulations and a library. The early days were characterized by a highly motivated team and committed students.
insight into current research and practice
A focus of the event is a lecture by Prof. Dr. Alexander Danzer, who analyzes the economic policy implications of the "Make America Great Again" movement. For this purpose, he discusses the competition between the USA and China and its effects on the US labor market, especially with regard to the employment situation. Other exciting topics are dealt with in trial lectures, such as the economic aspects of climate change, presented by Prof. Dr. Reinhard Weber, and the Data Science area, presented by Prof. Dr. Götz Pfander.
The event also offers guests the opportunity to explore the buildings on the campus on the Schanz and the Georgianum. In addition, a nostalgia city tour leads through Ingolstadt, in which students present central places from their studies. This promotes the interactive exchange between alumni, students and interested parties.
alumni network and common goals
The alumni network in Kontakt e.V., which has existed since 1996, plays an important role in promoting the faculty and the merging of the WFI graduates. With over 1,200 members, including active students and professors, the non -profit association is committed to high standards in teaching and good study conditions. Donation contributions of the members flow into projects that promise the greatest influence, which strengthens cohesion and support within the network.
alumni networks and associations, as in contact, also offer the opportunity to make contacts and learn from the experiences of others. There are hundreds of Germany-Alumni on the global stage, which are supported by the alumni niportal on a digital platform. This portal aims to strengthen the connections between alumni and to promote professional exchange and cooperations [alumni niportal Germany] that the main goals of the networks are the care of existing bindings and promoting a living exchange.
In summary, it can be said that the alumni day of the KU not only takes a look into the past of the faculty, but also offers the opportunity to discuss current topics and trends in economics. With a strong network of alumni and committed members, the future of the WFI is secured and the community continues to be promoted.Details | |
