Russia strikes back: massive air strikes and your own losses!
On the night of Sunday, Moscow and Kiev continued their air raids in the Ukraine War. Russia carried out a massive attack with 298 drones and 69 rockets, which led to numerous deaths in Kiev. A total of at least twelve people were killed, including three minors, and many more were injured. The air strikes were carried out not only in the capital, but also in other regions such as Schytomyr, where there were also tragic incidents. Local news reported destruction in towns that were documented by images of Ukrainian disaster protection.
It is particularly noteworthy in which the Russian air defense may have its own war equipment under fire. A video shows that a Russian strategic overs sound bomber of the Tupolew Tu-160 type was attacked over the Russian field. However, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense found that according to Silhouette, the machine probably did not belong to any TU-160. The attack took place over the city of Twer, about 180 kilometers northeast of Moscow. There is speculation that Ukrainian drones were nearby, which reinforced the confusion about the action.
continued attacks and reactions
The Russian air strikes from the air have reached a new dimension in the past few days. In the past three days, Russia has carried out massive air strikes on Ukraine, with over 100 fight drones being used. This has been described as the greatest attack on Ukrainian territory since the beginning of the war in 2022. According to reports from the Ukrainian Air Force, the 367 fired drones and rockets were shot down.
The pressure on Russia increases. Dutch Foreign Minister Kaspar Veldkamp announced a determined reaction to the attacks and emphasized the need to work with EU allies in order to increase the pressure on Russia and to expand sanctions. At the same time, the US Republican Don Bacon called for massive upgrading Ukraine and criticized the peace negotiations as ineffective.
prisoner exchange in the context
In the middle of this escalating violence, the greatest prisoner exchange has been held since the beginning of the war. Russia and Ukraine each exchanged 1,000 prisoners, which can be seen as a small ray of hope in the tense situation. Around 300 prisoners were handed over on Sunday. The exchange was agreed in direct negotiations in Istanbul, but journalist Stanislav Asseyev criticizes that several Ukrainian civilians who have been detained in Russia for years have not been taken into account.
Federal Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul described the Russian air strikes as an affront against human rights and called for a clear positioning against the procedure of Russia. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha and the head of the Presidential Chancellery, Andrij Jermak, also called for unconditional and sustainable ceasefire for peace negotiations.
The situation remains tense, and the intensity of the air strikes shows that the conflict in Ukraine has far from found a solution. Internationally, the conflict is now worn out with the breath.
