Edeka in Sendling: Big renovation starts - where is the post service?

Implerstraße 17, 80337 München, Deutschland - The Edeka branch at Implerstraße 17 in Sendling will probably be renovated until early November 2025. During the extensive renovation work, customers have to switch to the branch on Plinganserstrasse or the Express branch on Lindwurmstrasse. The post office on Implerstrasse also remains closed during this time. This was discussed in a recent meeting of the Sendling district committee, with CSU parliamentary group spokesman Michael Kaiser being concerned about closing. The Postbank branch in Partnachstrasse had previously closed its doors in February 2025.

The insurance company that the post office will be reopened to the usual extent after completing the renovation ensures relief among the residents. However, the packing station in the parking lot remains accessible during the construction work. A temporary solution for postal services is developed in cooperation with Edeka to meet the needs of customers while the branch is modernized.

Current developments in the branch network

Edeka adapted its branch network nationwide in April 2025. These include the opening of several new markets, such as Edeka Kubsch in Gransee and Edeka Meier in Wismar. The new openings record positive response, but there is also a wave of closings.

  • Trinkgut Kern Wiesenbach
  • Edeka Ehlers in Prussian Oldendorf
  • Cap Markt Denkendorf

Overall, numerous locations were closed across Germany, which reflects the company's strategic realignment. These changes come at a time when other supermarket chains such as Tegut are planning branch closings for reducing costs. Tegut has difficulty exploiting the existing market potential, which means that around 10% of their branches are to be re -awarded. Edeka and Rewe show interest in the free locations, which is an indication of the dynamic changes in the food trade.

In addition, a food manufacturer from the Allgäu has registered bankruptcy, which could also have an impact on the Edeka branches. These economic developments indicate a highly competitive market in which companies have to continuously adapt their strategies in order to remain competitive.

The situation of the Edeka branch in Sendling and the general market changes illustrate how important it is for supermarkets to adapt to the changing needs of your customers, while the challenges of a complex retail market must be mastered at the same time.
