New member meeting in Berlin: A breath of fresh air for the LAG B&G!
On July 4, 2025, the members of the left-wing workers' community (LAG) in Berlin are invited to meet for a new member meeting. The last half of the year was marked by numerous new voices joining the LAG, although only a few actively participated in the events and discussion rounds. In order to counteract this, the aim is now to get to know each other personally. The organizers see consultation with experienced members as an essential element to improve the integration of new members and increase their participation in future activities, such as dielinke.berlin reported.
A central topic of the meeting will be a review of the successful strike conference of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung, which took place in Bochum in May 2023. With over 1,550 participants, 56 events and 170 speakers, the conference brought an inspiring atmosphere. The opening was led by Professor Klaus Dörre from the University of Jena, who discussed the current rise of trade unions in Germany. The conference will see a remarkable new wave of members committed to empowerment and change, taking into account their diverse backgrounds, such as more women and young people from grassroots groups freitag.de.
On the program
The proposed procedure for the new member meeting includes an entertaining round of introductions, followed by a report on the results of the strike conference. Among other things, upcoming topics for the next half-year will be discussed, such as a planned summer festival, educational evenings and cooperation with the Chamber of Labor. Current collective bargaining disputes, especially those at CFM and the demand for a training place levy, are also on the agenda.
The coming months promise dynamic discussions that build on the momentum of the trade unions, which is now also shaping the participant structure. Many volunteers, works council members and activists were represented at the strike conference and brought valuable ideas with them from there. The exciting question remains as to how the labor movement can overcome challenges such as the climate crisis, and what a concrete dispute could look like until the next strike conference in 2026.
Such solidarity is not only promoted when you get to know each other, but also through the common goals that now become clearer. The LAG cordially invites all members to get actively involved and plan the next steps together.
