Reservists celebrate Unity Day with a bike ride to the Wall Memorial

On November 10, 2025, a very special event took place in Berlin: the reservists of the Reservist Association (RAG) Technology celebrated the 35th Day of German Unity with an exciting bicycle tour to the Wall Memorial. This campaign not only remembers the division of Germany, but also promotes community spirit.

The tour started in the motor vehicle hall of the Julius Leber barracks. After a hearty breakfast, the reservist bus was loaded with all the utensils needed for physical well-being. In addition to food, practical equipment such as a refrigerator, a power generator and a coffee machine were also on board. All of these things should ensure that participants are well looked after during the trip.

The route of the memorial tour

The bike tour included a varied route through the districts of Wedding, Reinickendorf, Pankow and Mitte. The route led over the historic strip of the Wall, past the Bösebrücke and Bornholmer Straße, to the “Berliner Mauer Bernauer Straße” memorial. Once there, the people who died at the Wall were remembered and a wreath was placed on the memorial stone.

A highlight of this event was the shared lunch. A delicious pea soup was prepared in the reservist bus and enjoyed in a quiet side street by the memorial. This short break also offered the opportunity to exchange ideas about the history of the Wall and gave the tour a special sociable character.

Practice and theory

After the delicious meal, there was a small training unit in which the participants were instructed on how to use the large equipment. The team was not only made aware of the historical aspect of the tour, but also trained in practical skills.

The return journey took the cyclists over some of the most famous sights, including the Holocaust Memorial, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building and the US Embassy. The tour ended in the Julius Leber barracks, where the day ended with a cozy get-together. “It was really a great experience and I’m proud to be part of this community,” said Staff Sergeant R. Wilfried Warnecke, who led the tour.

For everyone who is looking for a filling meal, here is a small selection of delicacies that you can enjoy even after this special bike tour. How about a Clix Chicken Shawarma, richly filled with hummus and fire-roasted corn, or the Falafel Crunch, which combines crispy falafel with roasted vegetables? These delicious options are just a few examples of an enjoyable meal that will be as memorable as today.
