In Berlin, passengers will face some challenges in the next two weeks. The S-Bahn Berlin recently announced that traffic is restricted on five lines due to extensive construction work. In the period from Friday, July 4, from 9:45 p.m. to Monday, July 7th, at 1:30 a.m. there will be a complete interruption of train traffic between the S-Bahn stations Schönewide and Grünau. The reason for the construction work: A new electronic signal box is installed, which requires some adjustments in the infrastructure. The affected lines are the S45, S46, S8, S85 and S9. In order to mitigate the effects for passengers, replacement traffic on buses was set up. The buses of the S46 line run between Schöneweide and Grünau and stop at the Sterndamm stations, Wagner-Régeny-Allee, Rudower Chaussee and Richterstrasse. Similar stops apply to the S9, with additional stops on Ewaldstrasse and Altglienicke. It is recommended to find out more about the routes in the S-Bahn app or on the notices at the train stations.

There are also construction sites and changes in the timetable on other lines, as on the route between Teltow Stadt and Lankwitz, which will be interrupted from July 4th to 7th and then again from July 11th to 14th. Replacement buses also run here, which makes the changes more complicated for travelers. The nightly restriction between the Nordbahnhof and Waidmannslust on 7./8. The work on Berlin's S-Bahn network does not end. Since April 11, 2023, work has been done on the tracks between Ostbahnhof and Alexanderplatz.
