Test match in the MBS Arena: ALBA Berlin meets Braunschweig!
A traditional ALBA BERLIN test match will take place in the MBS Arena in Oranienburg on August 30th. The club meets the team from Braunschweig. This is part of the comprehensive preparation for the season, which is supported by the Mittelbrandenburgische Sparkasse. Andreas Schulz, the chairman of MBS, highlighted the long-standing partnership between the Sparkasse and ALBA and is optimistic about the upcoming match. “We are pleased to present this event as part of our collaboration,” said Schulz.
Marco Baldi, Managing Director of ALBA BERLIN, also missed no opportunity to emphasize the important cooperation. Thanks to this collaboration, over 1,200 children and young people have the opportunity to enjoy regular basketball training at 68 schools. The project “MBS & ALBA – VERY BIG SPORT IN BRANDENBURG” aims to promote basketball at schools in Brandenburg and has already set up 78 basketball clubs in several districts.
Looking forward to the game against Hamburg
ALBA BERLIN will be on the floor again on September 1st, this time against Veolia Towers Hamburg. This test is an exciting opportunity for fans to experience the team up close. The game starts at 3 p.m. and doors open at 1:30 p.m. Ticket prices are very affordable at 9.50 euros (reduced 7.50 euros), and they are available online from August 1st. Anyone working in the press can accredit themselves for the game via email to cover this event.
Schulz also reminds us how important these traditional games are for the development of basketball in the region. “The project has now been running for 17 years and has helped to support over 1,000 students at 58 schools,” he emphasizes. The basketball clubs are organized weekly by ALBA youth coaches and teachers, which not only enriches the sport but also the children's everyday school life.
Importance of Basketball Education
Additionally, the importance of basketball in school programs shows the importance of encouraging the sport from an early age. The German Basketball Federation (DBB) is committed to training teachers in the field of basketball. Teacher training courses are regularly organized as part of international basketball games, which are supported by an extensive free material package. This package contains teaching and information materials that can be individually tailored to the needs of teachers.
The DBB's commitment to teacher training is reflected in the general promotion of basketball in schools. Teachers who participate in these trainings have the opportunity to receive valuable information and materials that they can use in their classroom to get more students interested in the sport of basketball.
This shows that there is a real passion for basketball in Brandenburg and beyond, which consists not only of the game itself, but also of training and supporting young talent.
