Barnim receives 1.5 million euros for culture and democracy in the BCO office!
What's going on in Barnim? An exciting turnaround is emerging in the district! The Barnim district successfully applied for the federal funding project “Aller.Land” with its “LAND.Benefit – VIELFALT.Leben” project and was able to convince the expert jury. The decision was made on June 18, 2025, and the good news is clear: the region can look forward to funding of an impressive 1.5 million euros, which will be made available for the period from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2030. This was published by Britz-Chorin-Oderberg.
The “LAND.Nutzen” project aims to strengthen culture, citizen participation and democracy in the region. The decision to support the project was no coincidence: on May 6, 2025, the expert jury team was able to demonstrate through a well-founded concept how important local actors - including clubs, artists, restaurateurs and citizens - are for networking and creating a shared community.
Content of the funding
Ultimately, it's about talking to each other and securing and expanding the local structures. As part of the funding period, numerous activities are planned to strengthen the sense of community. These include:
- wanderndes thematisches Jahresfest, das lokales Handwerk und kulinarische Traditionen vereint,
- jährlicher Fachtag,
- Künstlerwerkstätten,
- Podcast über Lebensgeschichten,
- Kochevents,
- Umweltbildung sowie weitere Veranstaltungen.
The aim of these initiatives is to create a stable network structure beyond the borders of the Britz-Chorin-Oderberg office and thus promote cohesion in the region.
Part of “Aller.Land”
But that's not all: “Aller.Land's” funding pot is full, as a total of 30 regional cultural projects have been approved with a total of 45 million euros. The aim is to strengthen cohesion in rural, structurally weak regions of Germany and to promote democracy through citizen participation. Among the projects supported is that of the Barnim district, which was selected due to its strong regional roots and the involvement of local people. This was reported by [BMEL](https://www.bmel.de/SharedDocs/Press Releases/DE/2025/048-aller-land.html).
Particularly interesting projects include, for example, the conversion of empty buildings into meeting places and regional music festivals. In addition, a total of 97 regions have submitted concepts to launch new cultural projects.
Supporting local structures and ensuring active citizen participation are key to creating vibrant and culturally rich communities. With “LAND.Nutzen”, the Barnim district shows how it has a good hand here and not only plans for local festivals, but also ensures the sustainable development of the region.
For anyone who would like to find out more, the details about the planned actions and the role of the new association “Our Allerland BCO e.V.”, which was founded in December 2024, can be found online. Further information about how the region will develop in the future can be found at Barnim.
