Bernau invites you to a spooky reading for the whole family!
November has begun and with it the reading and event days are just around the corner in Bernau. A highlight will be the reading by Maria Kling on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 3 p.m. in the Citizens' Hall of the New Town Hall in Bernau, Mayorstrasse 25. Barnim Aktuell reports that.... The children's book “Freddy+Flo are scared of nothing” is presented here, which is ideal for the whole family and invites you to enjoy reading.
The Bernau city library, the Schatzinsel bookstore, BeSt – Bernauer Stadtmarketing GmbH, the FRAKIMA workshop and Lesezauber Bernau share organizational responsibility. Gaby Karla, the head of the city library, and Sylvia Pyrlik, the head of the Schatzinsel bookstore, cordially invite you to take part. Admission to the event is free, which is a wonderful opportunity for families to immerse themselves in the world of books together.
The story about Freddy and Flo
Readers can expect an exciting story about Freddy and Flo, who move into a house near the cemetery and are confronted with supernatural neighbors. The reading not only promises entertainment, but also a great way to get children excited about reading.
In today's digital age, promoting reading is more important than ever. More and more initiatives are committed to conveying the joy of reading. The Thalia bookstore also makes a valuable contribution. Thalia reports that... it is currently reaching around 140,000 school starters with reading start sets. These sets contain not only reading material but also colorful pens and are available in both bookstores and schools. There are also helpful reading tips for parents in multilingual brochures.
Diverse initiatives to promote reading
A further step towards promoting reading is the “Knowledge begins with reading aloud” campaign, which Thalia is launching in 2025. This campaign is supported by reading ambassadors from the Reading Foundation and aims to underline volunteerism and the importance of reading aloud. If you would like to show even more commitment, you can also find out more about the Reading Foundation's volunteer portal, which provides an interactive reading map.
The coming weeks promise an exciting time in Bernau, in which both the young and older generations will be able to enjoy literature. To ensure that literature remains alive, participation in such events is of great importance. So be sure to stop by the town hall on Sunday!
In addition, the automobile-loving community will get their money’s worth at the GBS Cars & Coffee event on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Great British Sports Cars reports that the event will take place from 10am to 2pm at GBS and is supported by Witham Motorsport. If you love sports cars, you shouldn't miss this event!
Let's promote reading and continue to fuel the lively life in Bernau!
