Break-in at the Eberswalde Zoo: perpetrators fail at the cash registers!

On the night of August 26, 2025, the Eberswalde Zoo was the target of a brazen break-in. Unknown perpetrators broke into the facility and apparently targeted a donation box and a photo booth. Despite their efforts, both cash boxes remained intact, but property damage amounted to around 150 euros. As barnim-aktuell.de reports, an attentive witness alerted the police. The criminal police's investigation into the theft in a particularly serious case is now underway.

What is particularly interesting is that it is currently unclear whether the burglars were also in contact with the animals. A circumstance that raises concerns and leaves the zoo in a critical situation. The surrounding circumstances are also still uncertain; many hope that the zoo can strengthen its security measures to protect the animals and visitors.

Control and theft

The police also had to take action on the night of August 26th when they checked a Toyota Yaris on Landsberger Chaussee. A 23-year-old driver apparently had a fake driver's license in his pocket. The document and the vehicle keys were confiscated. The driver now faces criminal consequences for driving without a license and forging documents. The owner of the vehicle must also expect to be held responsible because she released the car without a valid driver's license.

Apart from these incidents, a white Mercedes CLA was stolen in Rüdnitz. The search for the vehicle is in full swing and the police are hoping for information from the public.

Current events once again illustrate how important vigilance and security are in the region. The police see themselves as required to protect the population both in terms of traffic safety and in the fight against crime.
