Journey of discovery in the Barnim Nature Park: WITO information tour inspires participants!
WITO Barnim GmbH once again invited people to the popular information tour in the Barnim Nature Park on September 10, 2025. Around 40 interested participants from various areas, such as tourist information and municipal tourism coordination, gathered to discover the diversity of the region together. Barnim.de reports that The event was a real community project that was realized in collaboration with the Biesenthal-Barnim office, the Barnim Nature Park tourism association and the municipality of Wandlitz.
Lutz Lorenz kicked off the information tour with an exciting story about the Hussites in Melchow. The participants then went on an eventful walk on the fairytale trail in Melchow, which won first prize in the “Nature Park Project 2025” competition. The artist Heike Beier clearly explained the background of her sculptures along the way, which certainly captivated many of those present.
Insights into the region
The visit to the Mirabellenhof in Biesenthal was also particularly interesting. This has been lovingly converted into family-friendly holiday apartments. Katrin Paul, the owner, gave a comprehensive overview of the renovation work and the philosophy behind the project.
On the subsequent bus ride to Hobrechtsfelde, a tricky quiz about the region awaited the participants. Lunch was served at Gut Hobrechtsfelde with a hearty green bean soup. There Stefan Wöhrlin and Antonia Gerke led the group through the historic granary and explained about the local horse culture.
The cozy get-together was also not neglected. In Wandlitz, the bookseller Melanie Brauchler welcomed the group into her shop, where coffee and cookies were served. The day ended in the Fischerstube Stolzenhagen, where Klaudia Priebe organized the event. A raffle for regional products and prizes during the cake break created additional atmosphere and joy among the participants.
Where the journey goes
The information tour not only provided new insights, but also served to exchange and network participants in the region. Regionalpark-Barnimerfeldmark.de highlights that such events are essential to promote the tourist attractiveness and cultural wealth of the region.
WITO Barnim GmbH will continue to fulfill its role in tourism marketing and advocate for the further development of the diverse offering in the Barnim district. There is no end in sight to the information tours: These are organized every six months for employees of the tourism infrastructure, which ensures ongoing exchange and further development of the region.
The success of these events shows that there is great potential for the future in collaboration between art, nature and regional development. In conjunction with initiatives such as those of the ZHAW that aim at sustainable regional development, the local community can benefit enormously. Zhaw.ch added that such projects help to revitalize rural areas and promote exchange between the actors. It will be exciting to see how this exchange will develop further!
