The Sparkassen-Arena in Bernau near Berlin is on the home stretch: The work on the outdoor area is almost completed, as barnim-aktuell.de reports. The final acceptance of the extensive construction work is scheduled for mid-October. The site covers around 2.5 hectares and extends between Jahnstrasse, Ladeburger Chaussee and Ladeburger Strasse. The operational hall itself offers space for up to 2,000 guests, who find a home here for professional sports as well as school and club sports.
The condition of the lawn in the entrance area is particularly pleasing; its lush green area of around 2,500 square meters contributes to the attractiveness of the area. Other impressive measures include a massive bench on the north side, which not only serves as a lounge area, but also regulates the traffic of cars and fast cyclists on the site. There is also provision for cyclists: around 160 new bicycle parking spaces offer safe storage options, which are particularly important for visitors from Bernau and the surrounding area.
Enhancement of the quality of stay
In addition to the structural measures, improving the design of the area is also a major concern. The outstanding work includes finishing work and equipping the site. In the next step, over 3,000 early-blooming bulbs, including tulips and daffodils, will be planted to brighten up the ambience in spring. In addition, four sweetgum trees are being planted, which are known for their resilience to urban climate conditions. Stainless steel benches at the side entrance further improve the quality of stay.
The Sparkasse Arena is not only available to clubs, but is also a popular location for school events. The SSV Lok Bernau is the main user and around 1,000 students regularly use the sports hall for their physical education lessons. The hall was created not only for sports, but also as a multifunctional venue for various events.
