Hopestaler Werkstätten: Award for sustainable commitment!
At a celebratory meeting on November 7th, the Barnim Nature Park honored the Hopestaler Werkstätten gGmbH for their outstanding commitment in the areas of sustainability, climate protection and regional value creation. This honorable award is part of a 20-year partnership between the nature park and the Hope Valley Workshop, which has been supported by the symbolic nature conservation cup since 2013. The proceeds from a special natural yogurt from the Lobetal organic dairy also help finance nature conservation projects in the park. According to [barnim.de].
The workshops offer a variety of services that promote local economic growth. This includes an organic nursery, an organic shop and contract work in wood processing and sewing. The production of regional organic dairy products is a central part of their corporate philosophy. Those interested can find out about the wide range of offerings at the visitor days, sales markets and Advent crafts.
Commitment to climate protection and biodiversity
The Hopestaler Workshops' commitment also includes comprehensive climate protection measures and the promotion of biodiversity. Photovoltaic systems on the roofs of the workshops generate sustainable electricity, while numerous nesting opportunities have been created for local animal species. In addition, old fruit trees are planted in the region and the food for the animals comes from the foundation's own land.
Another notable project is “Nature Makes School”, a cooperation between the Schönower-Heide-Verein e.V. and the Schönow primary school. The aim of this project is to promote environmental awareness among students and to strengthen a connection between school and nature. Activities include a graffiti project for conservation messages, spring cleaning and regular de-bushing to preserve biodiversity. The students are actively involved in the care of the game reserve and collect food for wild animals. As barnim-naturpark.de describes, they are particularly proud of having collected almost a ton of forest fruits last year.
A challenge for the project is vandalism in the Schönower Heide nature reserve, but the Schönower-Heide-Verein e.V. is always working to raise students' awareness of nature conservation and the flora and fauna there. This collaboration brings benefits for both students and the community and promotes a long-term commitment to protecting the Schönower Heide.
In summary, it can be seen that both Hopestaler Werkstätten gGmbH and projects such as “Nature Makes School” actively contribute to promoting sustainability and regional awareness. They provide a great example of how partnerships and commitment can bring about positive change in the region.
