Students of the 4th and 5th grades present their skills as part of a large final concert that takes place at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the school's canteen. The youngsters have been rehearsing in recent years and are looking forward to finally playing in front of an audience. The instrumental lessons that the students have enjoyed for two years includes violins, viola, celli and double basses and is lovingly accompanied by their teachers.

A total of three music lessons take place in the subject of "painting" every week, in which the students not only learn a lot about keeping their instruments, but also study well -known pieces such as "rain, dew and snow" as well as the title melody of "Curse of Caribbean". The rehearsals are an integral part of their school day for the children, because they take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the regular teaching framework. "The continuous promotion of musical skills is important to us," said music teacher Kathrin Möller, who launched the string classes.

The project at the Schönow primary school is part of "Class: Music for Brandenburg", a comprehensive cooperation program that has been initiated by the Association of Music and Art Schools Brandenburg e.V. since 2010. The goal has set itself the goal of giving all children, regardless of their social background, access to musical education. Over 6,175 pupils from more than 247 music classes now benefit from this approach that pursues innovative learning methods and keeps instrumental lessons free of charge.

It stands out through its diversity of classic teaching methods and focuses on the combination of singing, instrumental playing and movements in order to promote creative expression.

As part of the "Class: Music" program, instrument sets are provided for different classes and enables regular change of instruments between the grades. The aim is to create music -related basic experiences and to promote individual appropriation of music. It is particularly important that the offers in elementary music education are designed inclusive so that groups can also be addressed with special needs.

The results of these efforts are already visible, because about three to four students a year continue their streak training at the Barnim music school after the string classes. With such committed programs, Bernau not only sets the course for the musical future of his children, but also promotes their social and creative development.
