UntilJuly 18thCreative suggestions can still be submitted that strengthen volunteer work and inclusive commitment. This initiative by the State Chancellery aims to find new ways in which more people, regardless of their social situation, can become active for the common good. This applies to non-profit organizations and associations based in the state that have innovative approaches to making volunteering accessible to everyone. Barnim.de informs about the general conditions and announces that the submitted projects do not require any financial contribution and that projects that have already been started and those that have been completed cannot be taken into account.

The prize money is an impressive 15,000 euros, which will be distributed among the best ideas. The awarded projects are presented by the Prime Minister Dr. Dietmar Woidke will be awarded at the end of September, with the award ceremony taking place in October. The aim is to highlight successful examples and provide inspiration for imitation.

Focus on inclusive engagement

The focus is clearly on “inclusive engagement,” an idea that is gaining momentum. Based on the information from Family alliances in the state of Brandenburg, the aim of this competition is to make visible and disseminate successful models that help to sustainably secure and further develop voluntary work. As part of this initiative, particular consideration is given to the diversity of the committed people and their different social, cultural and educational backgrounds are honored.

It's no secret that volunteer work makes a significant contribution to social cohesion. According to the German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering, around 29 million people in Germany do voluntary work. However, in order to encourage more people to take part, flexibility, education and diversity are indispensable building blocks. DSEE emphasizes that formal and informal structures as well as digital offerings can be an enormous incentive. Younger people in particular are interested in offers that take into account their qualifications and offer flexibility.

The trends show that volunteering cannot be limited to the classic models. Innovative approaches that include multilingual communication and the inclusion of immigrants could help to broaden engagement and create opportunities for new, innovative ideas.
