Last call: Bernadette” writing competition ends soon!
The countdown for creative minds has begun: You have the opportunity to take part in the 19th “Bernadette” young talent competition until June 30, 2025. This competition is primarily in demand for young talents from the Barnim district who want to impress with their stories or poems based on the motto “Noise”. Environmental and nature-related topics are particularly welcome, a call to all who want to support the beauty of our nature. Barnim Aktuell provides the details.
Particularly noteworthy is not only the prize money of 100 euros for the winner, but also the bronze “Bernadette” medal, which is donated by Eckhard Herrmann. There is a special incentive for schools: an exclusive writing workshop with an author will be raffled off among the participating classes. The most beautiful award will be presented on September 25, 2025 in the Paul-Wunderlich-Haus in Eberswalde, where the Barnim children's and youth literature prize “Eberhard” will also be chosen.
Competitions for young talents
But the “Bernadette” competition is just one of many that are offering young people a platform to express their creativity this year. Several exciting competitions took place between January and April 2025. For example, the Theo writing competition, which was aimed at participants up to the age of 20, dealt with the topic “In the river”, while the WWF youth writing competition offered young writers aged 13 to 27 the chance to submit short stories on the topic of hope for the future. NOZ reports about these exciting opportunities.
One of the stages for artistic expression is the international initiative “A Book Goes Around the World” by the paper-eater MTM-Verlag. It offers writing competitions twice a year; this year, children all over the world are looking for their own stories. The topics “Recently in the library” and “Fantastically good children's stories” are particularly exciting for girls and boys aged 6 to 15. Over 20 years of experience in promoting reading are behind this initiative, which has already produced numerous publications.
Diversity of creative development
The variety of competitions advertised is impressive. In addition to the “Bernadette” competition already mentioned, challenges such as the AI challenge or the federal environmental competition are also right on the agenda. Here, students can submit their ideas on the use of artificial intelligence or solutions to environmental problems. Participants are offered a colorful range of topics, ranging from “Echt kuh-l!” all the way up to the international comic competition. All of this leads us to the bonds of creativity of youth and their commitment to important issues of our time.
Overall, there is a clear appeal to all creative minds to get involved: be it in the “Bernadette” competition or in other creative challenges – every vote counts! For people considering entering such contests, timely submissions are the key to success. Then it's time for the solo entertainers and story educators to pull out a pen, write and perhaps soon receive the awards for their talented achievements!
