Safe route to school: Barnim bus school starts for ABC shooters!

In Brandenburg, the journey to school is often quite difficult. Especially in rural regions, where distances are longer and many kids rely on the bus, the Barnim district has launched the Barnim Bus School. This will start in 2025 and will teach ABC shooters how to travel safely on public transport. How Barnim Current reports, the bus school is organized in collaboration with the Barnim police station, the Barnim bus company and other partners.

The bus school is being held for the 24th time and aims to educate students in the first grades about the risks and dangers that can arise when traveling by bus. District Administrator Daniel Kurth emphasizes how important this prevention model is in order to reduce accidents on the way to school in local public transport. This year the bus school will be offered at 25 schools, which underlines the importance of this project.

Practical and theoretical training

The bus school concept includes both theoretical and practical elements. The preparation is carried out by the class teachers, who show the kids the video “On the way to school – safely by bus and tram”. The practical part, which lasts about 45 minutes, takes place at the bus stop and on the bus. Here the children learn how to behave correctly at the stop, how to get on and off correctly and what is important during the journey. A “brake test” shows children the effects of unexpected braking to help them understand the importance of safety on the bus.

The Max Kienitz primary school in Britz is the first school to be integrated into the project. The students come from six different towns and often use the bus to get to school. The bus school is thus taking an important step towards greater safety, so that children can feel comfortable and safe on the bus, as Mayor René Knaack-Reichstein from the Georg Büchner primary school in Joachimsthal emphasizes. He emphasizes that such school projects are crucial for the safety of kids.

Joint commitment to safer routes to school

Parents can benefit greatly from this offer through the bus school. The program relieves them while at the same time teaching the children how to ride the bus properly. The initiative is based on the idea that early education about behavior in local and school transport is essential. Because on the way to the stop, during the journey and when getting out, kids are exposed to numerous dangers. Loud VBB Student transport is an important part of local public transport and many children use buses, trams or regional trains to get to school.

The Barnim bus school not only offers practical training, but is also a sign of the joint commitment of schools, police and transport providers. Through comprehensive cooperation and preparation, school starters are prepared in the best possible way for their journey to school and this needs to be supported in every way.
