A fresh morning in Barnim on July 1, 2025, but the calm was quickly interrupted: At around 9:00 a.m. a shocking incident occurred in Zepernick. A 73-year-old cyclist was hit by a car. Although the lady complained of leg pain, she did not believe treatment by paramedics was necessary. The material damage caused amounts to around 500 euros. The criminal police have started an investigation to check the exact course of the accident and determine any traffic violations, as barnim-aktuell.de reports.
However, that was not the only traffic accident in Barnim that day. There was another incident in Eiche in the morning hours in which a 60-year-old motorcyclist was injured. The motorcyclist collided with a Skoda car, with a right-of-way violation being suggested to be the cause. The injured person was immediately taken to a Berlin hospital, while the property damage is estimated at around 8,000 euros. Both accidents show how important road safety is and that unforeseen events can occur even on a quiet Monday morning.
Violations and injuries
A similar incident also occurred in Waltersdorf, Markt Hengersberg, where a 13-year-old cyclist was seriously injured on Tuesday. The 17-year-old motorcyclist, who was driving on the state road from Schwanenkirchen towards Hengersberg, was unable to avoid it when the cyclist came out of a driveway and collided with him. The young cyclist was taken to hospital by rescue helicopter, while the motorcyclist only suffered minor injuries. The total damage from this accident is around 7,000 euros. Here too, an expert was called in to reconstruct the course of the accident. The fire department had to completely close the accident site for two hours and carried out traffic control measures, as reported by pnp.de.
