Experience diversity: Intercultural weeks in Barnim are starting soon!
A very special event will be celebrated next year in the colorful diversity of Barnim. The Intercultural Weeks will take place from September 1st to 30th, 2025 under the motto “For This! 50 Years of Intercultural Week”. The Barnim district warmly invites everyone to experience the cultural facets of the region and get to know people from different nations. During these four weeks, a varied program is offered that includes festive events, exciting language courses, educational events and qualification offers.
Particularly noteworthy are the international brunch for women, the “Human Library”, a film evening and cooking and music workshops. Dr. Sylvia Setzkorn, the district's integration officer, emphasizes the essential role of dialogue in promoting understanding and humanity. “The Intercultural Weeks offer an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and cultivate respectful relationships,” she explains. For more information and to register, those interested can visit the district's website: www.barnim.de/interkulturell.
Experience and celebrate diversity
A look at the activities of the Intercultural Weeks shows the great commitment to integration and getting to know cultural wealth. This year's motto “#NeueRäume” is also a strong symbol of openness to other cultures and languages. Conversations and film screenings invite you to meet interesting people in a relaxed environment and gain new perspectives. These events take place at various locations in the Barnim district and aim to strengthen cooperation and provide insights into foreign culinary worlds.
The Intercultural Week, which is celebrated not only in Barnim but also in over 500 cities and towns in Germany, has a long tradition that goes back to 1975. What once started small has grown into an impressive series of around 5,000 events, ranging from church services and concerts to exhibitions and festivals. In Germany, the week is organized by three Christian churches and therefore represents a wide range of cultural expressions.
Invitation to active participation
The Intercultural Weeks offer the perfect opportunity to get actively involved and expand your knowledge about different cultures. Wer neugierig ist und mehr über die Angebote erfahren möchte, kann die Webseite www.interkulturwoche.de Visit to explore the nationwide programs.
Another incentive is the planned training and workshop offerings, which are not only accessible to adults, but also to children and young people. The various events should be designed so that they are accessible to everyone and everyone is welcomed.
