Werbellinsee: Cyclists are happy about the new circuit!
The time has finally come: cyclists can now completely circle the Werbellinsee in the Barnim Nature Park on signposted cycle paths. The last section of the cycle path closure between Altenhof and Joachimsthal has now been officially completed and is signposted. This means that cycling enthusiasts can use the scenic route throughout without having to switch to the busy state road. District Administrator Daniel Kurth emphasizes the importance of this cycle path connection for tourism and local citizens and sees it as a real benefit for the region. The Barnimer.de reports on the committed participants: The citizens' group AB14 from Altenhof was particularly active and played a key role in the planning and implementation. The project was also supported by Christian Wapler (ADFC), Martin Melzow (Managing Director of seezeit resorts) and other local actors.
The newly created section of the path runs as a well-developed forest path and leads through the picturesque landscape between Altenhof and Joachimsthal. A tour logo shows the way on the 28 kilometer long circular tour around the Werbellinsee, which started from various starting points such as Eichhorst, Joachimsthal and Altenhof. The connection to the waterfront promenade in Altenhof is via Golzower Weg. A small downside remains: two sections are not yet optimally developed, but can be navigated without any problems. And don't worry - there are plans to improve the condition of the path in the near future.
Diverse options for cyclists and hikers
The region around the Werbellinsee and the Schorfheide has established itself as a true Eldorado for active recreational athletes. The extensive network of cycling and hiking trails, which is managed by the municipality of Schorfheide and the Joachimsthal district, offers numerous opportunities for everyone who would like to explore nature. From May to September, cyclists can use the Werbellinseebus (line 917) to easily get to the various starting points. There are also many cozy cafés and restaurants along the route that promise a welcome break. According to Mein Werbellinsee, the cycle paths are both marked and easy to navigate, so don't be afraid of unsecured paths!
There are also a variety of offers for hiking enthusiasts. The popular Kaiserrundweg, signposted with a yellow dot and a blue bar, is ideal for inexperienced hikers and offers some highlights along the way, such as information boards and a waterfall. For the more ambitious hikers, the Alteichenpfad at Werbellinsee awaits with gnarled Hutewald oaks and beautiful nature that just wants to be discovered. The alternatives on the Werbellin Canal also enable an impressive natural experience.
