70 years of Kita Weinbergspatzen”: anniversary celebration with pirate party!
Cologne childcare is alive! On Wednesday, July 5, 2025, the 70th anniversary of the ASB daycare center “Weinbergspatzen” in Göttin was duly celebrated. A ceremony with many attractions and a pirate party ensured happy faces among children, parents and educators.
A warm welcome goes to the daycare director Karin Brodöhl, who was honored by the representative for youth, social affairs, health, education and sport, Alexandra Adel. She was thanked for her tireless commitment to the children and her close ties to village life. The daycare center is not only known for its natural, family care, but also places great value on dental health and healthy nutrition. At this anniversary there were gifts for the children, including a dragon hand puppet and many other toys. Anniversary cakes were also served during a small celebration program designed by the children themselves.
A look beyond the borders
Beyond the celebrations in Göttin, another example shows how daycare centers in the region pursue special educational approaches. The Würzweiler daycare center in the North Palatinate region is known for its nature education. The offerings there include forest days, children's conferences and even a snack garden, which will soon be supplemented by a forest wagon. The daycare center is run by Sigrid Münch and currently looks after 42 children. Here too, the focus is on holistic and natural education, similar to the principles of the Weinbergspartzen.
Another aspect is the increased integration of language support within the daycare centers. In accordance with the regulations for early childhood education, children in daycare centers that do not use the BeoKiz system receive a language learning diary. This document accompanies the children throughout their entire time at daycare and records progress in language development and communication skills. The systematic documentation enables educators to view the learning processes individually and, if necessary, to inform the primary school about the children's language skills, provided the parents give their consent. Such a concept ensures that children can start the next phase of their life well prepared.
A firm belief in the importance of early childhood education connects the various daycare centers in the region. Whether as part of an anniversary or through innovative approaches such as nature education - supporting children is always the focus. Events like the “Weinbergspatzen” anniversary celebration are living examples of the valuable work that is done in daycare centers and strengthens the community.
Overall, it shows that a good hand in early childhood education lays the foundation for the healthy, happy and cooperative development of our little ones. The daycare centers in Cologne impressively show how versatile and important these facilities are for the future of our children.
