Brandenburg an der Havel: Fire department and art project strengthen community
There are exciting times ahead in Brandenburg an der Havel! The city has prepared itself well for disasters with new initiatives. The Berlin newspaper reports that the professional fire department has purchased a state-of-the-art pump system that can be used effectively in major fires and flood events. The focus is on rapid water transport in order to reduce possible damage to a minimum. But the fire engine is not only used for large operations, smaller fires also require quick action!
Another highlight in the city is an artistic project by Gabriele Konsor from Brandenburg. From August 16th, citizens can bring pieces of fabric and personal stories to the art gallery. The aim of this project is to promote exchange and community through art. The sewing project is part of the exhibition “Kontaktraum Kunst”, which will be on view until September 21st.
Community and health in focus
Nancy Petsch's fellow campaigners, who work for the seniors at the Domizil nursing home on Marienberg, are also committed. Time is spent together here, be it playing games or doing creative craft activities. The group needs donations for materials and bingo prizes to give the older people beautiful moments.
In addition to these activities, a holistic health fair will take place on the regatta course on August 16th and 17th. Over 40 lectures and various exhibitors offer information about healthy nutrition and mental balance. Admission is free, which opens up the opportunity to actively promote your own health.
