Brandenburg's whey market is becoming a living paradise - large blueberries included!
The renovation of the Molkenmarkt-Höfe in Brandenburg an der Havel is nearing completion and promises to bring a breath of fresh air into the city. The project initiator, the Jedermann Group, began work five years ago. A total of 30 apartments, a care hotel and the service center of the city's largest independent care group are planned. Due to demographic change, the demand for assisted living and short-term care places is high. The ensemble is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of next year, followed by the marketing of the apartments. You can find out more about the progress on the website Everyman group.
What was the whey market before? Historically, it was a place of gathering and exchange, which served as a trading and market place in the Middle Ages. In the post-war period, Café Oske experienced a transformation from a coffee house to a popular dance hall. With the Molkenmarkt-Höfe, this place is now being revitalized after remaining dormant for decades.
Diverse community
In addition to the attractive living situation, the 4th Simson and vintage car meeting on August 16th in Hohenferchesar also invites you to marvel. Here, a GDR moped from David Rose and Jens Hofmann impresses with a top speed of 155 km/h after tuning. Around 400 to 500 vehicles and over 2000 visitors are expected, which further increases the anticipation for this event. The main prize of the tombola is an original swallow in alabaster white.
In the immediate vicinity, on the asparagus and berry farm in Ragösen, impressive blueberries grow that can weigh up to 9 grams. The farm, owned by the Mitic couple since 2011, cultivates an impressive 16,000 blueberry plants and offers a wide selection of fruits - from strawberries to raspberries to watermelons.
A move with new perspectives
While the city presents itself in a new light, Marit Schneehufer (47) made a personal change and decided to leave Potsdam. The constant increase in rents, the noise and the feeling of alienation contributed to their move to a small village. She feels comfortable in her new home in a foreclosed house in Rädel (Lehnin Monastery) and appreciates the proximity to the village community and the quality of life.
Another urgent point is the development of neighborhoods suitable for the elderly. Loud DAB online 90% of people over 70 want to stay in their own four walls and need comprehensive support, including barrier-free buildings and appropriate offers for age-appropriate living. The nationwide funding of neighborhood initiatives is intended to help create integrated development strategies for the living environment of older people.
The completion of the Molkenmarkt-Höfe will make a further contribution to improving the living environment and supporting older people in Brandenburg an der Havel. The city is moving step by step, motivated and thoughtfully, towards a future worth living in.
